The City submitted a Safe Routes to Transit grant application in September for $100,000 to continue analysis of the San Pablo Avenue Complete Streets Concept and ongoing community engagement about the project. The proposal described a bus bulb and parallel parking protected bike lane pilot project on San Pablo Avenue from Lincoln Avenue to Potrero Avenue, where initial assessment has found that there is adequate automobile level of service, street right-of-way, median and sidewalk width to accommodate a completely protected cycle track.

The Safe Routes to Transit review committee recommended the City’s proposal. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Programs and Allocations Committee will meet in February to consider and approve these recommendations, at which time the City will have three years to spend the funding.
