Police Dept. Recruit and Volunteer Updates

Posted on September 2, 2014 at 4:49 PM by Suzanne Iarla

On Friday August 22, 2014, three police recruits graduated from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department Basic Academy and entered the Field Training Program on August 25 to begin their training and evaluation to serve as solo patrol officers in our community. The three are Adam Jinparn and Eddie Perales who are former police cadets, and Ryan Trac a former lifeguard at the EC pool. A formal welcome ceremony will be held in the fall.
During the month of July; our Volunteer Programs contributed to the police department mission as follows:

Reserve Officers: Reserves donated 53 hours of their time. Res. Officer Hickman helped at the July 4th event and the Relay for Life Event. Res. Officer Chehal helped at the July 4th event, did a patrol ride along and completed the 3-day Bicycle Patrol Training.

Explorers: Explorers donated 246.5 hours of their time for the month of July. A large portion of time was donated at the July 4th event. Most of the explorers participated in the Support an Explorer fundraiser. They also did Ride-Alongs, helped around the station, and assisted with the Relay for Life event. They helped prepare and deliver National Night Out Host Packets to 34 residents. Explorer Sabina Tuleja had the most hours for the month.

Volunteers: The volunteers donated 82 hours. Some helped at the July 4th event and at the Relay for Life. Miguel Ramos-Banales helped by picking up equipment at Adamson in Hayward for the police department. Lincoln Linsmith donated a lot of time during the Bicycle Patrol Training.
