Crisis Intervention Training
At the end of May, the ECPD held two 8-hour Crisis Intervention Training sessions for police personnel. In all, 29 employees attended the course. The course focused on the identification of mental health crises, de-escalation techniques, and follow up efforts. This course was designed in-house and is intended to give front line personnel a greater understanding of mental health issues in our community.
Instructor Assistance – Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI)
Detective Sergeant Ian Wong has been providing instructional support to the facilitation staff at the Commission on P.O.S.T. The SLI course focuses on building leadership skills and enabling law enforcement supervisors to take on the challenges of 21st century policing. The course is composed of 24 sessions spread over 8 months. Detective Sergeant Wong has been assisting with delivering curriculum, reviewing coursework from students, and performing logistics duties.
