September 12th through 15th marks the yearly California Building Officials Organization (CALBO) continuation education and training week. All Building staff members are enrolled in different classes based on necessity and availability. Building personnel are required by State law to participate in continuing education and it is also necessary to achieve between 5 and 15 continuing education units during a 3 year period depending on the number of ICC certifications held to keep those certifications active. This year the classes are particularly important as January 1, 2017 will usher in the new 2016 State codes and many of the classes offered will cover the changes that will be taking place from the 2013 codes.
