Brace and Bolt Recap
On January 11, 2018 El Cerrito Community Development’s Jay Marlette presented an encore presentation of “Brace and Bolt” as a part of our El Cerrito Homeowner’s Workshop Series. Attendants were informed on the latest data pointing to the likelihood of a high magnitude earthquake right here in El Cerrito. Attendees also learned exactly how buildings are braced and bolted, about a standardized bracing and bolting plan known as “Plan Set A”, and about the California Brace Bolt Program which offers grants to home owners who brace and bolt their homes. The conclusion of the presentation included a special guest, Janiele Maffei, Chief Mitigation Officer from the California Earthquake Authority, to discuss more details about the California Brace Bolt program and other programs the CEA supports. Program registration for up to $3,000 in financial assistance under the Brace Bolt program is due February 23, 2018. Visit
