The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) approved the City’s request for a $125,000 appropriation of Measure J funds for the City to complete a multimodal Capital Improvement Program (CIP) within a half-mile of both El Cerrito Plaza and the del Norte BART stations. The funding was requested from the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and Access Improvements at El Cerrito Plaza and del Norte BART Stations Measure J project and cosponsored by BART. The CIP will be developed in conjunction with, and in support of, the San Pablo Avenue Specific Plan and Complete Streets project as discussed at the April 2, 2013 City Council meeting. The CIP will help the City identify, seek funding for and implement projects that improve the bicycling and walking environment near both stations, help create a mode-shift from single-occupancy vehicles to alternative modes of travel, and support transit-oriented development.
