October 16, 2013 marked the graduation of the second class of the El Cerrito Citizen Police Academy. The Department sponsors the Citizen Police Academy (CPA) as an opportunity for members of the community to learn about the Department. Attendees learn about the K9 program, the CSI Unit, Detectives, Bicycle Patrol and the Volunteer Program. Also included is a training class utilizing the Use of Force Simulator and the Driving Simulators. Attendees must be 18 years or older, reside in El Cerrito and pass a background check before being accepted into the Academy.
