The City Clerk attended the League of California Cities New Law and Elections Seminar in December with other City Clerks throughout the State. The seminar consisted of two days of trainings in transparency strategies and customer service and a refresher and legislative update regarding public meeting protocols, elections, the Brown Act, Fair Campaign Practices and Political Reform Act reporting requirements and regulations. She also received two Certificates of Appreciation from the California City Clerk’s Association (CCAC) for her work mentoring new municipal clerks and for her work on the Athenian Dialogue Committee. In November, Cheryl completed her tenth dialogue and looks forward to being installed as an Athenian Leadership Society Fellow by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks this year. She was also appointed by the President of the CCAC to serve on the League’s Environmental Quality Policy Committee in 2014. The Environmental Quality Policy Committee reviews issues related to air and water quality, CEQA, integrated waste management, hazardous materials, coastal issues, and utilities. This should be interesting for Cheryl as her B.S. is in Conservation and Resource Studies and she worked in the environmental law field for nine years prior to entering municipal government.
