Update on Hana Gardens & Creekside Walk Developments

Eden Housing is nearing completion of the predevelopment phase and preparing to begin construction of Hana Gardens, the 63-unit senior affordable housing project scheduled to be built adjacent to City Hall at the former Tradeway building. 

Also, the Creekside Walk development project is moving along well. The buildings have taken shape and soon the interior finish work will begin to take place. The latest component of the project to move forward is the daylighting and restoration of a segment of Cerrito Creek. The public can soon expect to see an approximately 60 foot wide by 180 feet long portion of Cerrito Creek that is currently culverted, be day lighted and restored to a natural condition.

Ohlone Gardens Housing 6431 & 6495 Portola Drive

The project is substantially ready to pull building permits. Housing staff is working with Resources for Community Development (RCD) and the other project lenders and investors to close escrow on the project’s construction financing. Financing is anticipated to close by March 21st. RCD plans to start construction of this 57-unit multifamily housing development in April.
 
RCD will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony on the afternoon of April 22nd from 4:30 to 6:00pm. Mayor Janet Abelson and Supervisor John Gioia are scheduled to speak at the event. Staff will be coordinating with RCD, who is organizing and conducting outreach for the event.

Eden Senior Housing Project: 10848 & 10860 San Pablo Avenue

Housing staff and Eden Housing continue to make progress on the negotiation of a Disposition, Development and Loan Agreement (DDLA) for the terms of conveyance of the property. Staff anticipates concluding negotiations in March and bringing the DDLA to the City Council in April. Meanwhile, Eden Housing applied for County CDBG/HOME funds and received a County staff recommendation for an award of funds. The County Board of Supervisors will have final approval of any funding decisions of County CDBG/HOME funds
