Have a broken item you wish you could fix? Join Fixit coaches (and helpful neighbors) at the El Cerrito Library and they will guide you through the repair process. Fixit clinics celebrate the power of repair to reduce waste through fun, do-it-together, hands-on, fix-n-learn, community-based exploration and discovery. Fixit Coaches share their time, tools and expertise to consult with you on the disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair of items. To participate: 1) Bring a broken item with all parts necessary to recreate the symptoms. 2) Bring any parts and tools you already own that might be helpful. 3) Come ready to clearly describe what’s wrong and what you’ve tried (Tip: advance web research about your item is especially helpful). 4) Come eager to learn and to share your skills and knowledge with others.
For more information please visit Fixit Clinic's website (http://fixitclinic.blogspot.com/) or contact City Staff at 510-525-7622.

Newly-appointed artist in residence at the El Cerrito Recycling Center, Sandy Drobny, will lead a demonstration showcasing her techniques of weaving with recycled materials. Sandy is an art educator and a longtime member of the Golden Gate Weaver's Guild of Berkeley. Members of the 79 year old guild will bring their looms and provide instruction in weaving for all who attend, proving that weaving is alive and well, not just a historic pastime.
