Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Environmental Quality Committee?
The El Cerrito Environmental Quality Committee (or EQC) is a Council
appointed body of residents and businesses who work to involve the
community directly in understanding and reducing our impact on the
environment. The Committee is concerned with the environmental impact of residential, business and City activities, such as climate change, green building, sustainable planning, Bay-friendly landscaping, hazardous materials reduction, environmentally responsible transportation, waste reduction and recycling, clean air and water, education, and energy efficiency and conservation.
What does the EQC do?
EQC members are currently working to:
- Act as ambassadors for citywide environmental quality efforts
- Review requests for policies pertaining to the environment
- Develop programs to reduce citywide environmental impacts
- Educate and involve residents in City environmental programs and activities
- Involve more members of the community in order to expand the range of
areas where the Committee can promote environmental quality
How can I get involved?
Meetings are open to the public, and we encourage you to attend if you
want to learn more about EQC and City environmental activities, have an
idea or an issue that you would like to address, or to express interest in joining
the Committee as a Council-appointed member or as a volunteer.
