The City is currently preparing an Active Transportation Plan to revise the 2007 Circulation Plan for Bicyclists and Pedestrians, build off recent bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure investments and integrate innovative design standards and traffic control methods.  The Plan is part of broader efforts to create a walkable, bikeable, and sustainable City by prioritizing non-motorized transportation infrastructure improvements.

The El Cerrito City Council adopted the City's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan on September 21, 2009.  The City pursued the development of an ADA Transition Plan to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities in the community.  As indicated in the plan, the City Engineer/ Public Works Director has establish an ADA Advisory Group to provide advice and guidance in the planning, prioritization, and coordination of accessibility-related improvement projects in the public rights-of-way.

Additionally, the City has a number of current projects planned to improve the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.  Several projects will begin construction later this year.
