The next General Municipal Election is November 4, 2014.

The City Clerk is the local elections administrator and coordinates with Contra Costa County in the conduct of Municipal Elections. The November 4, 2014 General Municipal Election will fill two seats on the City Council for four year terms.  Persons interested in running for the office of City Council Member for the City of El Cerrito may obtain Nomination Papers and a Candidate’s Packet from the City Clerk beginning July 14, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. The successful candidates will be installed in the month of December 2014. 

Candidate Eligibility
Any person who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the United States, a resident and registered voter of the City in which they are seeking office, and who is not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the State of California from holding a civil office, is eligible to be elected or appointed to a City Office.
