The Open House Senior Center

Birding ($18) 2nd & 4th Friday of the Month, 7:30A-1:30P. Bring binoculars, snacks, water, lunch, bird book and sunscreen. Dress in layers for changing weather. March 12-Las Gallinas/San Rafael; March 26-Arrowhead Marsh/San Leandro.

Senior Hike ($18) 1st & 3rd Friday of the Month, 8:30A-2:30P. Bring lunch/snack and water. Wear sturdy shoes. Dress in layers for changing weather. Hiking poles recommended. March 5-Stow Lake & Strawberry Hill, Golden Gate Park, 3 to 4 miles with some elevation gain. March 19-Shell Ridge, Walnut Creek, 4 miles. Hiking poles recommended for the moderate portion of hike.

Cartier and America Jewelry Exhibit ($30) Wed., Mar. 24, 9A-2:30P at the Legion of Honor. Enjoy a docent tour of the jewelry and works of art include pieces from the private collection of Cartier, ranging from traditional white diamond suites to the highly colored exotic creations of the 1920s & 1930s.

Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park ($35) Wed., Apr. 7, 9A-2:30P. Visit the largest privately owned adobe building in Northern California in 1830-40s. Petaluma Adobe, known as Rancho de Petaluma, was the headquarter of the rancho, a place where in the evening a family baile (dance) was heralded by the melody of the violin and harp. Lunch at McNear's Restaurant included.

Old Faithful Geyser @ Calistoga ($50) Tues., Apr. 20, 8:30A-3P. Experience the wonders of nature's geysers that perform at regular intervals. Lunch at Bosko's Ristorante included. Visit the Chinese Factory in Sonoma on the way back.

Golden Gate Fields: "A Day at the Races" ($40) Wed., Apr. 28, 11A-4:30P. Enjoy a day at the races and meal at the Turf Club Buffet. Turf Club Requires: Ladies-dress or tailored slacks & Men-collard shirts/dress slacks.

The Petrified Forest ($50) Tues., May 11, 8:30A-3P. Follow the trail of majestic petrified redwood giants in Calistoga. Lunch at Bosko's Ristorante included. Visit the Sticker Factory on the way back.

Bay Area African Safari ($90) Thurs., May 20, 8:30A-3P. View the wildlife, 400 mammals and birds, at the Safari West in Santa Rosa. An African BBQ lunch included.

Big Basin Redwoods State Park ($50) Wed., June 9, 7:30A-5P Visit California’s first state park, Big Basin, dominated by ancient redwood trees, cool streams, and some 100 miles of hiking trails stretching out across the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Thunder Valley Casino ($30) Wed., June 23, 8:30A-4:30P. Enjoy 2,700 slot machines and over 98 gaming tables. A $10 play coupon and $5 restaurant coupon included. Lunch on your own at the casino.
