Alzheimer's Respite Program

COVID-19 Update: The Alzheimer's Respite program is suspended until further notice.

The Alzheimer's Respite program is offered in partnership with West Contra Costa Adult Education.  It is a program designed for individuals with Dementia, including Alzheimer's disease and other memory losses. This program offers close supervision with an array of activities designed to keep the participants at their highest activity level possible. These activities include exercise, music, art, discussion, and therapy pet visits. Family members of the participants are encouraged to use the time as a respite and leave participants at the Activity Center so they may enjoy some time to themselves while their loved one is looked after in a safe manner. Instructor evaluation required before enrolling in the program.

The Alzheimer's Respite program meets on Tuesdays from 10am-3pm at the Midtown Activity Center, located at 10940 San Pablo Ave. The monthly cost is $105 for El Cerrito Residents and $132.00 for Non-residents. Hot lunch can be added for an additional $3 per lunch reservation ($5 per lunch for participants under 60 years old). Payment is due each month. Additional donations to help off-set the cost of this program are gratefully received.
