COVID-19 Update

All of us from the City of El Cerrito Recreation Department hope you are doing well as we move through these unprecedented times. It is essential to understand that the situation is continuously changing as Contra Costa County Health Services (CCHS) reacts to new information.  We recognize the significant impacts this is having on the community we serve. In Fall 2021, the Recreation Department will begin a phased approach to bring back Adult & Senior Programs, which will now take place at the El Cerrito Community Center.

The El Cerrito Recreation Department will continue to follow current State and County guidance for COVID-19. If CDPH guidance is updated, we will align our safety protocols and requirements accordingly.

  • Unvaccinated individuals over age 2 will continue to be required to wear masks in all indoor public settings.
  • Class/Program Instructors may decide whether or not to require masks to be worn indoors.
  • Class/Program Instructors may continue to request proof of vaccination status to verify which participants can go without a mask or may allow patrons to self-attest.
  • If you are not feeling well, or begin to experience any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home.

To help you find food, Contra Costa County has a new GIS (global information system) mapping tool. It can be used on any mobile device, just like searching for the nearest gas station or cafe on your phone.

The tool, developed by Contra Costa County’s IT Department, incorporates data from the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, school districts, senior centers, and other food organizations. It was developed in partnership with 211 Contra Costa, the crisis center.

Please distribute this map url widely! This is a community tool, and will be continually updated. For additions or corrections to the map, please email Dawn Hartley with the County’s GIS team, or Kate Rauch, in John Gioia’s office.
